Ion exchangers

Ion exchangers

Selectively remove substances from water, process water and wastewater

Ion exchangers for the selective removal of substances from water

The ion exchange process is used when water is to be treated for production, or in the event that substances, including recyclable materials, are to be removed from the wastewater in a targeted manner.

The special filter materials used in ion exchangers are known as ion exchange resins and are manufactured on the basis of synthetic resin with functional groups. Ion exchange resins mainly differ in terms of the type of functional group.

Our water treatment experts select the ion exchange resins that are best suited for your individual water treatment requirements.

Typical applications for the use of ion exchange resins

  • Water treatment for the operation of electrolysers for generating green hydrogen
  • Polishing plants for wastewater recycling in PEM electrolysers
  • Wastewater treatment with selective removal of dissolved substances (e.g. heavy metals)
  • Extraction of recyclable materials from wastewater
  • Softening and desalination of water
  • Condensate cleaning (removal of alkalising agents and mineral salts)
  • Hydrochloric acid cleaning
  • Pickling bath cleaning (acid retardation)
  • Cleaning solutions used in the production of sugar substitutes (e.g. sorbitol, xylitol)

We offer a comprehensive replacement service with freshly regenerated ion exchange resins for specialised applications – guaranteeing a quick, reliable and convenient service for our customers.
