EnviroChemie is responsible for two-shift paint coagulation and paint sludge processing at a German car manufacturer’s plant. During the course of this cooperation, the paint sludge processing has been optimised by the use of a vacuum belt filter. With water chemicals adapted to the process and optimised system parameters, the paint sludge is reliably discharged and disposed of, because the batch run times are reduced by 50%. This helps to avoid unscheduled additional disposal costs. The operating and maintenance costs are reduced by 50%, and the energy costs for operating the vacuum belt filter by as much as 75%.
Project framework data:
- Production: 340,000 cars/year
- Painting process: integrated paint process (IPP)
- Paints used: KTL, water-based base coat, solvent-based 2-component clear lacquer
- Paint manufacturers: BASF, PPG
Caption: The optimised paint sludge treatment results in a filter cake with a dry matter content of approx. 35%
