Stollenwerk orders a plant for water treatment

Engineering and construction of the plant, as well as operations management

The family-run company Stollenwerk processes freshly picked fruit and vegetables into preserves. It has commissioned EnviroChemie to plan and construct a treatment plant for its production wastewater, and to take on operations management.

With an innovative concept based on the principles of circular economy, the new treatment plant treats the wastewater from the company’s modern production lines in Merzenich, Germany, so that the water can be used to irrigate the fields.

The new anaerobic/aerobic wastewater treatment plant cleans the wastewater generated when processing the different vegetables, which change with the seasons. The main features of the plant, capable of handling 1,100 m³ of production wastewater per day, are its biogas reactor and two reactors with SBR technology for aerobic treatment. The biogas generated is used in the factory to generate steam, thereby reducing fossil fuel consumption.

Following 25 years of good experience with EnviroChemie at another production site, Stollenwerk has put its confidence in EnviroChemie for the engineering and construction of the plant, as well as operations management once it is up and running.

Once the new wastewater treatment plant goes into operation – which is scheduled for May 2026 – EnviroChemie will take over operations management, with its own specialists ensuring that the plant runs reliably.
