The Sodipol dairy produces cheese, butter, cream and desserts under the “Le Berger” brand at its plant in Skhour Rhamna, Morocco. They now plan to add a pre-treatment stage to their existing wastewater treatment plant in order to reduce the pressure on the further wastewater treatment. In addition, the sludge that accrues is to be treated so that farmers can use it as fertilizer.
In September 2024, EnviroChemie was commissioned to implement the wastewater pre-treatment and sludge conditioning. The first step was to conduct analyses and preliminary tests to determine the engineering parameters.
Using a Flomar flotation system, 150–200 m³ of wastewater per day is pre-treated in order to significantly reduce the wastewater contamination (COD value) in the feed to the further wastewater treatment. A new sludge treatment unit uses a screw press to mix and drain the sludge that accrues in wastewater treatment so effectively that it can be used as fertilizer. The entire plant technology has a compact and space-saving design.
The plant technology will be installed on site by experts from EnviroChemie and is expected to begin operation in October 2025.
Sodipol also relies on EnviroChemie’s expertise for plant operation, using its service, water treatment products and WaterExpert digital service platform.
