In a pioneering co-operation, Paques Biomaterials and ESKA have signed an agreement with EnviroChemie, Paques (both part of the Skion Water Group) and Jorritsma Bouw.
The agreement regulates the engineering phase of the innovative plant, which is being developed under the project name ‘Gecko’. An official kick-off meeting has now given the go-ahead for the engineering phase. This planning phase is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2025, so that investment decisions can be made before the end of the year.
For Paques Biomaterials, this project marks a decisive step: ‘It is the transition from scale-up to commercial production - a real milestone,’ emphasises Joost Paques. The project also represents a significant success for ESKA. Brian Oost, Head of Operations - Solid Board Business Area, summarises it as follows: ‘It is a remarkable moment to turn our sustainability goals into reality with such strong partners.’
This pioneering project will make a significant contribution to the sustainable use of process water - an important step for the circular economy and environmental protection.
