12/07/2018 New wastewater treatment plant for German baby food manufacturer A large German company, which belongs to a French dairy group, produces baby food and special medical nutrition at its site in Fulda. The cleaning processes involved in the production of milk powder create up to 850 m³ of wastewater contaminated with organic residue every day. In a bid to pre-clean the operational wastewater so that it reaches the same level of contamination as domestic wastewater, Envirochemie has designed and installed a Biomar biological treatment plant complete with a Flomar aftertreatment stage. The aerobic treatment, which is excellent for decomposing organic substances such as fats and sugars, is designed as a two-line system. The biosludge produced during the wastewater treatment is separated in the post-treatment unit by means of dissolved-air flotation. The entire, fully automated plant technology is depicted in a state-of-the-art visualisation to ensure the plant operator has a convenient overview of the wastewater treatment plant at all times. The French dairy group is once again relying on EnviroChemie to implement the new wastewater treatment plant, just as it has for a whole host of its water technology projects around the world. The plant opened back in 2017 and has been cleaning wastewater from milk production in line with officially required limits ever since.
