11/05/2018 Envirochemie builds a wastewater recycling plant for cosmetic production in Brazil A German-founded, international cosmetics manufacturer has awarded Envirochemie a second contract to plan and build a wastewater treatment facility in Latin America, featuring membrane technology for integrated water recycling processes. The entire wastewater technology for the production of body creams, shampoos, sun creams and deodorants is designed to ensure the treated wastewater and concentrates meet the local discharge regulations and can be released into the sewage system. The cosmetics firm also obtained the LEED Platinum Certificate for Green Building Design & Construction for its production facility in Mexico, thanks to the innovative water technology installed. “Envirochemie’s customised water treatment concept has proven itself over several years of practical operation in Mexico. This is why the customer has now decided to implement the same concept with us in the course of an expansion of their production facility in Brazil, awarding us the contract in April 2018,” explains Elmar Billenkamp, General Manager, Head of Design & Sales at Envirochemie. The new wastewater treatment plant for the production facility in Brazil is designed for a capacity of approx. 170 m³ per day. Around 30 per cent of the incoming wastewater is recycled and used for irrigation and operation of the cooling tower.
